The History of Segale Bros.
As the business grew, the older brother went on to pursue his livelihood in a landscaping business, while Donald Segale expanded into manufacturing custom cabinetry, therefore establishing the mainstay of Segale Bros. Through willingness to learn from older and wiser craftsmen, attending apprentice school, and on the job experience, Don soon became skilled at crafting beautiful cabinets for the Bay Area residential market.
Our business had humble beginnings in a small space in San Bruno and remained headquartered there until 1987. We then upgraded to a 17K square foot space in Menlo Park where we were able to increase the company volume and service. After an eminent domain battle we moved across the bay to Hayward in 2003. At this time Segale Bros. was able to expand our operations to a more fitting 42K square foot facility.
Over the years we at Segale Bros. have expanded our service capacity in a variety of ways. Custom cabinetry was offered exclusively until the mid 80's. At that time there was an expansion into cabinet refacing. This gave the capability to offer our customers many of the details of custom cabinetry at a more appealing price point. In the mid 90's we expanded yet again, offering melamine organizational systems for closets, garages and home offices. Presently, custom cabinetry and refacing projects represent approximately 75% of our business, while our closet division, and other incidental sales produce our remaining sales.
Our reputation for the highest quality craftsmanship has continued to grow throughout the Bay Area with a referral base that literally traces back to our beginnings. Continued commitment to customer concerns and top quality craftsmanship have made Segale Bros. Wood Products a leader in our industry.
"It was a pleasure doing business with you. Everyone I spoke or dealt with was polite, professional and competent. You delivered a quality product at a fair price, and you were extremely responsive to this customer's difficult scheduling and logistics. In my opinion it is IMPOSSIBLE for big suppliers or franchisers to match the quality of service that I got from your great family owned business.
